Gay pride, more than pride, it is a vindication
During the Franco era, being gay was punished like a crime. Many of them were imprisoned and before that, gays were executed, like García Lorca was. Nowadays, being gay is more than a party; it is the pride of those who have come out. The party is a way to openly show their condition to society. However, there are still people who point at them, in a clearly unjust and homophobic position.
That’s why the Gay Pride day is celebrated with joy and color in the streets. Sadly, some people in Spain are still against this party. They can’t get used to coexist with certain people, who despite having another condition, are just like everybody else. They feel and suffer too.
